Good stuff! Like having your own consultant.
I didn't know much about Google Apps, but I knew we needed it for our small business. Specifically, we wanted to set up corporate email accounts using our own domain, and take advantage of the great utilities offered by Google.
In the past, we have hired consultants for this sort of job, sometimes remotely over the Internet. Frankly, doing so can get expensive, and there's always the issue of communication with the consultant. A misunderstanding can end up costing a lot of money, especially when you are paying by the hour.
So I wanted to tackle the project myself, with guidance. I am tech savvy but some of this stuff (MX servers, etc.) is out of my field of expertise. This Gold Medal Solutions DVD set was perfect for our needs.
Although we already had our domain locked down, we used the DVDs to help set up our own corporate email (on our domain name) and configure the other apps. It all went smoothly.
I really like the way you can simply...
Google Apps for a Small Business
This two-DVD set is really a lifesaver for me. I know how to run my small business and order the right inventory and sell at the right time. I do not know computer software. However, I am smart enough that if someone shows me how to do something once, I generally can retain the information.
The great thing about this `lesson plan' is that the narrator goes slowly enough where you can keep up. He shows you in real time exactly what you should be seeing on your own computer screen. You can pause, go back or keep notes. It does not take a lot of time away from your day to become an `expert' on Google apps!
The very best app for me was being able to condense all of my contacts into one main file that I can access from my computer or any other device. Several years ago lightening fried my hard drive and everything was lost. The time spent putting all the contacts back together was horrible. Now I do not have to worry about it.
I highly recommend this DVD...
Easy to Understand Instructions and Perfect for the Visual Learner
As a small business owner, I am always looking for ways to maximize productivity and cut costs. Now that I am working with remote teams, online tools and "the cloud" are starting to become critical for me. I knew this is the next step my business needed to take as far as data storage and sharing, but I was overwhelmed on where to start. I found these DVDs to be VERY helpful for me - someone who needs step-by-step instructions and is a visual learner.
What I liked about the DVDs is that much of the content is a capture of the narrators computer screen as he goes through all the exact steps needed to set up the various accounts and to use the apps. I liked that I could pause the DVD and go through the step right along with the narrator.
Another thing I liked about the DVDs is the nice pace that the narrator uses. Sometimes instructional DVDs are either painfully slow or just too fast to follow along. The pacing is perfect to keep the viewer engaged but not have...
