Himmel Auf [Blu-ray]

I love this!
Silbermond's best CD yet, particularly 'Unter die Oberfläche,' 'Himmel Auf,' and 'Weisse Fahnen.' I actually like every song on the CD, something which I can't really say about their previous albums. The one thing I would change, is that I would like to see more guitar solos on the CD, because I would really like to have Thomas have the chance show what he can do. I bought the 2 disk version, with the CD and the "Nichts Passiert" concert DVD, and the DVD was really good as well. I liked their "Laut Gedacht" concert DVD better, but mostly because I just like the songs themselves and the bass solo more. Steffie is a great singer and performer, with a lot of energy that makes her a joy to watch. She and the band always seem to be enjoying what they're doing and honestly appreciate their audience (she still looks amazed that so many people are coming out to see them), which (along with being able to play together really well) is all part of what makes them fun to watch, and this...

Not my favorite from the band, but a solid effort.
This latest CD by Silbermond is more of a pop/rock venture than their earlier efforts, which had more of a punk rock feel (which I personally prefer). It also seems like their earlier CD's had at least one track that really blew me away, and I'm still waiting for that track to reveal itself on this one. That said, the album is still a solid effort and enjoyable to listen to, and there has yet to be a Silbermond album I didn't like. This one is still a better purchase than two thirds of the English-language rock CD's out there! I would recommend you give it a try.

Very good, but not quite as good as their earlier CDs
Silbermond seems to have moved more in the direction of techno with this release. This album incorporates a fair amount of synthesizer white noise that produces a big sound, but kind of obscures and drowns out the instrumental and vocal talents of the musicians. Like everything Silbermond does, the compositions are creative, the tunes are catchy, and the lyrics are thoughtful and thought-provoking. But I kind of miss the crisper and cleaner rock sound, and the energy and vitality, of their previous CDs.
